Everything You Need to Know

Welcoming a Golden Retriever puppy into your family is an exciting decision, and we want you to feel informed and confident throughout the process.

Below, you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions about Platinum Goldens, puppy applications, deposits, planned litters, visits, health, Family Day and lifelong breeder support.

About Us

Where is Platinum Goldens located?

Platinum Goldens is a family-run Golden Retriever breeder located on our family farm in Lakeville, Massachusetts.

Are you a kennel or breeding facility?

No. Platinum Goldens is a home-based breeding program—not a commercial kennel or facility.

Our dogs live inside our home as part of our family, and our puppies are raised with hands-on care, daily interaction, household routines, and thoughtful early socialization.

How long have you been breeding Golden Retrievers?

Blair and Steven began their Golden Retriever journey in 2016, and Platinum Goldens was officially established in 2018.

Our program is devoted to raising healthy, well-balanced Golden Retrievers with excellent temperaments, beautiful structure, and family-friendly personalities.

Application and Deposit Process

Do I need to apply for a puppy?

Yes. Every prospective family must complete our Puppy Application.

The application helps us learn about your household, lifestyle, previous dog experience, expectations, and the type of personality that may be the best fit for your family.

Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee approval or placement.

Is the puppy application fee refundable?

No. A $25 non-refundable application processing fee is required when the application is submitted.

The fee covers the time spent carefully reviewing applications, verifying information, and communicating with prospective families.

How much is the deposit, and when is it due?

A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within one week of your puppy’s birth.

The deposit reserves your position for that litter and is applied toward the total puppy investment.

What is the total investment for a puppy?

The current investment for a Platinum Goldens puppy is $5,000.

Pricing is subject to change. The applicable investment will be confirmed before your deposit is accepted.

Is a puppy guaranteed once my application is approved?

No. Approval means that you are eligible to be considered for a Platinum Goldens puppy.

Availability depends on litter size, gender distribution, timing, and whether we believe we have a puppy who is the right fit for your family. Our priority is always making thoughtful, responsible matches.

When is my position officially reserved?

Your position is officially reserved after:

  1. Your Puppy Application has been approved.

  2. A puppy has been born and is available for your family.

  3. Your $1,000 non-refundable deposit has been received within one week of birth.

An approved application or paid application fee alone does not reserve a puppy.

Our Breeding Program

What is included with a Platinum Goldens puppy?

Each Platinum Goldens puppy goes home with:

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations

  • Veterinary health and vaccination records

  • A written Puppy Purchase Contract

  • Early neurological stimulation and thoughtful socialization

  • A take-home folder with puppy-care information

  • Lifetime breeder support

We want every family to feel prepared and supported as their puppy transitions into their new home.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes. Our Puppy Purchase Contract includes a 72-hour health guarantee against abnormal health irregularities.

The buyer is responsible for having the puppy examined by a trusted veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup. If the puppy is found to be unhealthy during that period, the contract explains the documentation, return, and refund requirements that apply.

Please review the complete Puppy Purchase Contract before placing a deposit, as no other guarantees are given or implied.

How are your puppies raised?

Our puppies are raised inside our home—not in a kennel environment.

From birth, they receive daily handling, age-appropriate enrichment, and exposure to household sounds, different textures, children, people, toys, and everyday family routines. These early experiences help support confident, adaptable, and well-adjusted temperaments.

How soon can I bring my puppy home?

Puppies may go home at eight weeks of age or older.

Before leaving, puppies must be fully weaned, developmentally ready, appropriately socialized, and have received age-appropriate veterinary care.

Visits and Pick-up Day

Can we visit the puppies?

es, but visits are offered only after your application has been approved, your deposit has been placed, and the puppies are at least six weeks old and have received their first vaccinations.

We call this special visit Meet the Pack Day.

Because our puppies are raised inside our family home and have developing immune systems, all visits must be scheduled in advance. We do not allow unscheduled drop-ins.

Visitors must also follow the health and exposure precautions outlined in our Visitation Policy.

What is Pickup Day like?

We call puppy pickup Family Day because it marks the day your puppy officially joins your family.

Family Day is designed to be calm, personal, joyful, and informative. We will review your puppy’s care routine, feeding schedule, veterinary records, contract information, and transition needs.

You will also receive your puppy’s take-home folder and have an opportunity to ask any final questions before heading home together.

Communication and Lifetime Support

Do you provide puppy updates?

Yes! Families receive regular “pup-dates,” photos, and developmental milestones throughout the puppy-raising process.

We love allowing families to watch their puppies grow while learning more about their personalities, progress, and experiences.

Do you offer lifetime breeder support?

Absolutely. Our relationship with our families does not end on Family Day.

We remain available as a trusted resource throughout your dog’s life.

What is the best way to stay updated about planned litters?

Join our seasonal email newsletter and follow Platinum Goldens on social media for planned-litter announcements, pregnancy confirmations, puppy milestones, availability updates, and helpful Golden Retriever resources.

Because our program remains intentionally small, we recommend applying early rather than waiting until puppies are available.

Planning Ahead

How far in advance should we apply?

We recommend applying as early as possible.

Our litters are carefully planned and often fill quickly. Applying early gives us time to review your information, answer questions, and determine whether our program is the right fit for your family.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes. Approved families may be considered for our waitlist based on anticipated litter availability.

Waitlist placement does not guarantee a puppy from a particular litter. Availability depends on the number of puppies born, gender distribution, family readiness, and the best match for each puppy.

What if I am not ready when a litter becomes available?

Please let us know as soon as possible. We may be able to discuss consideration for a future litter depending on timing and availability. Deposits are non-refundable. Any transfer of a deposit to a future litter is made solely at the discretion of Platinum Goldens.

Still Have Questions?
